I'm Melanie Bar and today we're talking about what it means to go full speed into what you love, especially if it comes to building a career or business. I know the idea of doing what you love can feel a bit cliche, but here's the truth. When you lean into the work that feels natural, that excites you, and that taps into your talents, the hard days get easier, and the good days, they get even better. Going full speed into a career that you love doesn't mean everything will be perfect. It doesn't mean you'll always get it right. It doesn't mean you won't feel overwhelmed or tired and unsure some days. But what it does mean is that you're running your own race and you're building something that aligns with you. When you're doing work that you enjoy, something that comes naturally, you show up differently. You bring more energy, more creativity, and more resilience. And on the days that are tough, you keep going because you care. You're not just chasing a paycheck. You're creating something that reflects your passions and your strengths. Let me take you back to the very start of my career. My very first job wasn't in an office or a business setting. It was on stage. I was acting and dancing in a theater show.
Speaker 1: That experience taught me something I'll never forget. You can make a living doing something that you love. I didn't know it at the time, but that lesson stayed with me. I realized that I enjoyed business development, building relationships, creating new opportunities, and helping ideas take shape. So, from there, I went to work for Marriott Hotels and AT&T. And then I landed what felt like a dream role working for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A Career That Evolved
Speaker 1: That was an incredible season of my life. But like many of us, my career interests and drive evolved. Today, I'm all in on podcasting. I love the creative side, the strategy, the storytelling, and most of all, I love helping you see how podcasting can build your brand, grow your business, and make your voice heard in a powerful way. Launching podcasts, managing shows, and coaching hosts. It's a culmination of everything I've learned along the way.
Three Ways to Begin
Speaker 1: And it's what makes my mornings exciting as I start my day. So, what if you're listening and thinking, "That sounds great, but I don't even know where to start." Here are three ways to move full speed into a career that you love. Look
Speaker 1:
- back at what brought you joy as a kid or early in your career. What were you doing when you lost track of time when it felt fun, effortless, and rewarding.
- Start there. Get curious and say yes to opportunities that feel good. Not everything has to be perfectly mapped out. Sometimes the best way forward is to just say yes and try and see if it feels right. Find people who are doing
- what you want to do and learn from them. Reach out, ask questions, and surround yourself with mentors, collaborators, and people who inspire you. Going full
Speaker 1: speed into what you love doesn't mean it's always easy, but it means you'll care enough to keep going.
