enhancing waistband that reduces water weight and built-up toxins in the lower stomach area emoo has been featured in Forbes Vogue Marie CLA and Sports Illustrated to name a few thank you for joining us Emma you are the founder of emoo what gave you the courage to create and launch your business and why are you so passionate about wellness and helping women to feel good both inside and out I'll try anything for wellness I was a personal trainer for the the pandemic happened and you were training in person all my clients were women and they were always talking about their lower stomach and it was always I have so much water weight or I'm just really insecure about my lower stomach area and I know for a fact on my friends felt the same way I felt the same way there was nothing I could recommend them to use on the market to help them besides you know a waist trainer but you can't really wear waist trainer into Trader Joe's without everybody's staring at you and so I wanted to make something that was cute and effective but also that worked for you so after a lot of trial and error it emolo was born it's interesting cuz I see the posts on Instagram and you can see the band and I thought I wonder what that does can you tell us your process for developing it and how glow band helps women in the beginning I had no idea how to make a product I cut out an old wet suit I had that had neoprene because I knew wet suits keep you warm and then I had an old pair of yoga pants so I brought it to my grandma and we cut out the wet suit we sewed it on the inside of the waistband of the yoga pants I had and I was wearing it to the gym it was really ugly I would never would want anyone else to wear it but it worked I my lower stomach was sweating and I was like okay I can probably do something with this then all my clients were asking me what I was wearing and then I brought it to a manufacturer to help me make an actual prodot type that I could wear we sold neoprene in the pants for a while that was for about four or five months I think I launched two SKS with the neoprene and then I realized it was too thick although it worked it was it was really thick it's literally a wet suit inside of your pants so I found a recycled thermoplastic which is what you see now which is the Silvery fabric that helps you reduce water weight bloating just by heat trapping and that's how it works yeah it's heat trapping so we're just safely increasing your body temperature and there's a Le of benefits that comes with that but the main one is reducing bloating so it's great that's so interesting that that helps so much yeah you mentioned being a trainer before share with us some of the comments you heard women saying and how do you think those comments affect us both inside and out it got to the point where it was really negative when you work out you doing it to feel good and there's so many deep reasons why someone chooses to receive training or even just walk into the gym or take a class and the comments were geared towards themselves even though I thought they looked great and so did everyone else it was so specific and I know none of them would ever speak to anyone else like that it was things like I can't even look at myself in the I don't want my boyfriend to see me I have to buy Spanx to wear under my swimsuit and they're wearing one pieces it just was so crazy because I never saw that for them but I also I would think those things about myself so it's just it's so crazy how we can be so cruel to ourselves but no one else I have an eight-year-old daughter and I'm constantly telling her you know the most important conversation you'll ever have is with yourself because it is those conversations when we say positive things to ourselves we feel really good yeah exactly the apparel industry is not an easy one to go into what is your approach to leadership and building your team so that you have continuous growth it is very difficult it's different when you're building like a consumer food brand because you're catering to everybody and for apparel specifically you know at leisure it's more of a niche it's a targeted audience I'm learning as I go when you just start out and you're a solo founder you know you're doing everything thing and then when you finally have to start delegating tasks to other people you want to be handson and so I'm still learning to just let go and have someone help me because I want to be on doing everything that is really hard and everyone struggles with putting out the right strategy and making sure the right team members are in place because it's your business and you want to make sure it goes forward in the way that you want it to what do you like the most about what you do and can you share with us a fun client success story I love the design part and I love putting together campaigns and naming the sets and doing specific Aesthetics for each set and it's fun to see the girls wear it and then they're posting sometimes I'll see girls in Pilates or in bar class in the sets I'm like oh my God like that's so crazy because I I made that and sometimes I'll go up like hi like that's that's my brand it's just funny but that's so fun I know it's so fun you see them wearing it it's it's great I am a mom of twins and I never really gained weight in my stomach until after having the twins this is appealing for me too because when getting fit my stomach was like the last place I really had to focus on and now it's almost the biggest area I have to focus on and know everyone gains weight trains easier in different areas but that's been my experience so I would think there's a lot of moms out there that would be interested yeah lots of moms that I've met through just doing pop-up shops that take the like quties classes that I'll go to and they wear the the bottoms and they love them it's honestly been great hearing people's success stories through DMs and emails and how they've worn it you know a few times a week and they feel they feel better and it makes me so happy well it's great that you listen to your clients and then provided and created a solution yeah I could have just made it for myself which I did in the beginning but after seeing that it worked and thought that everyone else needed to have you know piece of the pie too because it was it was really helpful and when there's an area that you're not feeling great about and there's a type of apparel or a way to make you feel more confident you deal better that's why Spinx I think is so successful because she Sarah targeted the same type of concern because clothes they're not always flattering and you want to look and feel good and yeah it's just a huge pain Point emoo has been featured in Forbes Vogue Marie CLA Sports ill UST rated and more how does it feel to have been featured in these media platforms and what advice do you have for someone building a career when they experience both the wins and the challenging times it has been really crazy seeing seeing these press hits sometimes because when you start you think no one will ever notice my brand I'm gonna fail but then when like an editor notices your product and they try it and they genuinely love it and they post about it it means everything and I I get so excited and happy when I get something like that because it just means okay I'm doing something right and they like the product and it also helps spread the word to other women who you know might not know about the product and I think if you're just starting out I mean press hits are great and it gets you on a high and you feel really good and you're on top of the world but then there are like weeks or months where everything is kind of quiet maybe you haven't released anything new yet everything's at a standstill and I think as an entrepreneur that's your time to really just work behind the scenes not everything you do is going to be rewarded or talked about and half the things I do I don't even talk about because you're just working all the time and only the people only see the highlights which I'm trying to work on to be better at because my is not always oppressed happy stuff it's hard because I go through the day and I think does anyone want to see this but maybe they do because it's relatable we're all like digging in and doing the work but sometimes we just just show the glossy part there's a lot of non- glossy part that happens behind the scenes 10% is the good good stuff yeah magic happens when we focus on the part of ourselves and our business that brings us joy what is one way that you make sure to find and live your joy each day talking to Consumers I live in my DM so if you ever want to talk just slide into the EML DMS but it's so amazing to see that makes happy talking to my customers and just even it doesn't even have to be about the set if you love The set great but if not I'm here to here to talk and I think even planning future sets makes me really happy so I love to just plan ahead and see what's next and I'm still learning how to ground myself and be happy with what I have now but it's also fulfilling to you know plan ahead I think that as an entrepreneur that's hard because we're always thinking about what's next so you you bring up a good point with staying grounded and being in the moment yeah it's hard but it's when you are finally in the moment it feels good I can't wait to try the product you've created thank you for developing something that is helping so many so fun to see
