Do What What Really Matters
Transcript
Speaker 1: [Music] I'm Melanie Bar. Welcome back to the Sheila Tip podcast, your go-to place to empower you to live the life and business that you crave. I'm here to talk about everything from having the courage to make life and career leaps to the details of how to lead effectively, create successful teams, implement strategies for growth, and infuse tech innovation. I'm here to celebrate your wins and navigate through your challenges. I live in the city now, but I grew up in a town of a thousand people. I've navigated major life leaps, a senior level corporate career, worked in professional sports, and now as a successful entrepreneur who loves business, technology, family, and making meaningful connections with you and the She Built It Community. I also love a good workout and dose of self-care.
Speaker 1: Magic happens when we focus on the part of ourselves and our business that brings us joy. So, turn up the audio, open your favorite notes app, grab your favorite drink, and here we go. Welcome to the Shiba podcast. If you're a woman in business, running a household, raising a family, or all three, you probably know this feeling, that quiet pressure to do everything to keep all the plates spinning and somehow find time for growth, leadership, and maybe a workout or two. I've been there, and honestly, I still find myself there sometimes. We live in a culture that celebrates hustle, but let's be honest, you're not just building a business, you're building a life. And the truth is, you don't need to do it all. You just need to do what matters. A beauty years ago, I was recording a Sheila episode, managing client work, running the business, and doing all the things for my family. Dinner, laundry, school runs, you name it. I remember standing in the kitchen, phone in one hand, half unpacked bag of groceries sitting on the counter, and I realized I had forgotten why I was doing all of it. That moment changed things for me. I started to ask a new question. What really moves the needle today for my business, for my family, and for me? Not just the to-do list, not the guilt, just what matters most. And that small change shifted how I prioritize my time, how I show up for my clients, how I show up for myself. Here's the mindset shift I had.
Mindset shift
Speaker 1: Self-improvement isn't about squeezing in more. It's about choosing more intentionally. It's not selfish to protect your energy. It's smart. It's sustainable. And it's necessary for growth. So, here's the strategy I've been using. Pick three priorities for each day. One work, one for life, and one just for you. And prioritize and focus on getting things done that have to be done first. Build a white space on your calendar. Time to think, time to breathe, and time to just be. I love it when I leave my office for a quick lunch with a friend and receive an email that something great has happened in my business. Taking time for you isn't selfish, it's necessary. Say no to things that don't align with your vision, yourself, or for the things your business is growing into. You're already doing more than enough. And your value isn't how much you do. It's who you are and how you lead. Progress isn't always loud. Sometimes it's resting. Sometimes it's letting go of one more should. And sometimes it looks like choosing to show up with clarity, intention, and with her. If this resonates with you, share this episode with another woman in your life who's doing a lot and needs to hear she's doing great. You're not alone, and you don't have to do it all. And if you're ready to build your brand and launch a podcast in a way that fits into your life, not overwhelms it. I'd love to support you. Reach out to hello@shiltit.com or on our sheba website.
