Speaker 1: through your challenges. I live in the city now, but I grew up in a town of a thousand people. I've navigated major life leaps, a senior level corporate career, worked in professional sports, and now as a successful entrepreneur who loves business, technology, family, and making meaningful connections with you and the She Built It Community. I also love a good workout and dose of [music]
Speaker 1: self-care. Magic happens when we focus on the part of ourselves and our business that brings us [music] joy. So, turn up the audio, open your favorite notes app, grab your favorite drink, and [music] here we go.
Speaker 1: Let's start with something that happens every single day but rarely gets talked about. Someone hears your name, maybe through a friend, a client, an interview, a podcast, a social post, and they're curious. So, they do what everyone does. They Google you or look you up in chat GBT. They land on your website and within 5 seconds, they decide whether they're staying or going.
Speaker 1: 5 seconds. Your website is the lobby of your business, the first impression, the tone setter, the place where someone decides whether they want to walk in or walk out. Many incredible leaders are losing people in that lobby because their website isn't telling the story that their business now reflects. Life moves quickly. Businesses evolve. Websites often stay stuck in the past
Speaker 1: version of you. So today, we're reimagining your website as what it actually is, an owned media home. A place that works for you even when you're asleep, the story you're in. You want more of the right opportunities,
Speaker 1: the aligned clients, the partnerships, the media, the speaking, and the growth. The challenge isn't awareness. Enough people hear about you. The challenge is
Speaker 1: translation. Someone lands on your site and they cannot answer these three simple questions. What do you do? Who is it for? What do I do next? If any of those feel unclear, people won't stay long enough to find out how brilliant you are. Let's talk about a fix. One
Speaker 1: clear line at the top. Your homepage should be able to stand on its own, like a clean, confident introduction at a dinner party. Something like, "We help companies turn their expertise into content that earns long-term trust."
Speaker 1: Short, direct, focused on the people you serve. Then, and this is important, give them one next step. Not five, not 12, just one. Listen to the podcast, work with us, book a conversation. You will be amazed at what clarity does. Treat
Speaker 1: your blog and research like a real library. Owned media research keeps showing that blogs and articles remain one of the most used, most effective content tools for brands. And yet, many leaders leave theirs untouched. Your blog, insights, and resource hub is where your voice can truly live. Think of it as the place that answers your
Speaker 1: questions where the audience keeps asking. How do I grow without burning out? How do I create content with the time I have? How do I create and use a podcast and video strategy? Turn each question into an article. Make the title clear, not clever. Link those articles directly from your homepage. Now, your website isn't just informative, it's
Speaker 1: valuable, and people come back to value. Build the trust section that feels human. People want to know whether they can rely on you, not whether you're perfect. So, give them a few signals, a short story, a few real client or listener testimonials, press logos, or features. Keep it warm and grounded like you're introducing yourself to one person, not to a crowd. And don't forget
Speaker 1: to connect your website to everything you own. Your website should quietly hold your entire ecosystem. Your podcast, your email list, your offers, your speaking, your media, and your best articles or insight. As an example, every podcast episode can have a short summary, a standout quote, a join our email list. This is where your owned media starts feeling like a system working together, not scattered pieces.
Speaker 1: So, as a next step, take a 10-minute audit. Open your homepage and ask yourself, would a stranger understand what I do in one glance? Is there one clear next step? And is there at least one place where I am clearly teaching or helping, not just listing information? If the answer is no, that's your place to begin. You don't need a full redesign to make a website powerful. You just need clarity. When your website works, it supports every other channel you own.
Speaker 1: Your podcast lands deeper. Your social posts convert better. your email list grows faster and you get a lobby that finally matches the strength of your work. Thank you for joining me on the
